MLK DAY OF SERVICE

At Beth Israel’s Hebrew School curriculum, we engage in various opportunities to integrate service into our curriculum. Martin Luther King Day is a particular moment when we focus on this. In 2025 we will be focusing on two service projects which we will be assembling on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at Hebrew School.

“Jared Boxes” 
Jared Boxes are boxes made up of small toys, games, and fun projects that we assemble and donate to children who are hospitalized at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We will have a bin available in our foyer to collect Jared Box donations! There are many possibilities of items to include in a box — you can consult the Jared Box Website list for ideas! 
 

Baby Blankets for Women’s Shelters
The blankets we will be assembling are fleece no-sew tie blankets. We will be purchasing materials for blanket assembly on January 19th. 
 

How can you help?

  • Consider making a trip to a local Target, local pharmacy, or other store to purchase some items for the Jared boxes.
  • In lieu of shopping, consider a tzedaka donation via the form below, which we will use to purchase needed items.
  • Join our planning committee for this year’s MLK Day activity!
