A Better Start for Babies

A Better Start for Babies Builds on Success over Success!

Now in our fifth year, the Social Action Committee is delivering our target of more than 200 bags of much-needed items for new moms and their infants cared for at ChesPenn, a federally qualified healthcare facility in Chester. The project, named A Better Start for Babies, was created by our committee, and is a response to the great need of so many mothers who have no resources and often no family to support them. From 30 bags in our initial drive, we’ve helped more than 500 families, relying on your purchased items, cash donations, and the support of Congregation Ohev Shalom and the Foundation for Delaware County. Each bag given to a new mother has a retail value of $70.

Consulting with the physicians at ChesPenn, a list of items was developed. You can see it here. You can buy items at your favorite stores and have them delivered, or drop them off at Beth Israel, 542 S. New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063.

The Social Action team of Judy Kinman, Julie Mayer, Carol Briselli and John Greenstine were joined on delivery day by ChesPenn pediatricians Kai Turner, Ashley Henderson and ChesPenn CEO Susan Harris McGovern.

Can you knit? We need home knitters to make little baby hats for new children. Please contact Judy Kinman to volunteer to knit at home. JKinman125@gmail.com
