Un-stuffed Cabbage

Un-Stuffed Cabbage - Serves 8

SAUCE
1 package Lipton onion soup mix
1 15 oz can of tomato sauce or diced tomatoes
3 T brown sugar
2.5 cups apricot juice (or mango, peach, or pineapple)
        if you need to substitute, perhaps throw in some apricot jam

“Stuffing”
2 medium or 1 large onion, sliced
1 head of green cabbage sliced
1 cup uncooked brown or green lentils    

Mix ingredients for the sauce in a large pot or roasting pan. 
Add the sliced cabbage, the onions and the lentils to the sauce, 
Mix together and cook until cabbage, lentils and onions are soft -  2 hours on top of the stove or in a 325℉ oven. 
Or cook in a crock pot on low heat.
Adjust sauce to taste. 
Add water if needed.
