Shabbat Services
Shabbat Services
Here at Beth Israel, we offer a variety of Shabbat services to enable members to connect with Shabbat. You can check our calendar for up-to-date details, but evening services usually begin at 7:30 pm, and morning services usually begin at 9:45 am. Shabbat services alternate between being in person and streamed online or only online, but all services are available to watch remotely through Zoom. Click here to request the Zoom link be sent to you.
Events for Young Families
Throughout the month, we have special services with offerings such as dinner, a “Torah Treks” adult learning, and various events for children. Families with young children are invited to join us for a once-monthly Tot Shabbat and any other child-centered offerings. You can click here to learn more about our early childhood programs and events.
Assisting with Shabbat Services
We are grateful to have an active group of members who read Torah each Shabbat morning and plan and lead all, or part, of some Shabbat services. We welcome and encourage members who want to learn more and become part of our community of lay leaders. To help members join in this effort, we offer opportunities to learn in classes and one-on-one with our rabbis or an experienced service leader. Click here for some guidelines and instructions for leading a Friday Night Erev Shabbat service. If you want to learn more or offer to help with a service, contact a rabbi or a chair of the Religious Practice or Adult Education Committees. If you’d like to help by hosting an oneg or kiddush, please click here for more information and resources, or contact the front office.
