Workshop on Youth Courts with Gregg Volz (on Zoom)

Sunday, January 19, 2025 19 Tevet 5785

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Gregg Volz, Public Interest Attorney and  National Youth Court trainer, will share his expertise on Youth Courts, a restorative justice oriented practice to interrupt the school to prison pipeline and to divert youth from the justice system. Youth court (also known as peer court) is a program offered in schools and in the juvenile justice system where youth are trained and empowered to serve as the jurors, judges, and attorneys. These youth are responsible for arriving at constructive consequences for the violation of either school rules or juvenile offenses to help the offending juvenile repair the harm to the victim.

Gregg will discuss the Youth Court Bill that has been introduced into the Pennsylvania Senate that aims to provide funds for youth courts state wide  and a youth court resource center. You will have an opportunity to learn about youth court, sign a petition and learn about our letter writing campaign.

This event is sponsored by the AntiRacism Coordinating Committee (ARCC) and the SAC (Social Action Committee).
