The package pickup days will also be opportunities for you to contribute nonperishable food items for the Social Action Committee’s holiday food drive.
High Holidays Drive-Through Food Collection Returns
Things are in a state of flux with the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. What has not changed, however, is that hunger does not take a vacation. When you can't feed your family, hunger is always there. On the rainy evening before the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the Media Food Bank served 46 families, while on a hot and sunny June 27th, 62 families were served. The Media Food Bank needs our help.
High Holiday services will be a combination of in-person and remote programs. When you come to Beth Israel, whether to pick up your prayer packages on Sunday August 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., or Tuesday August 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., to enjoy the camaraderie of the Welcome Back Dinner, or to celebrate and attend services, please bring non-perishable food items or the always-needed toiletries. As to the food items, please do not donate expired food. The Media Food Bank will NOT distribute them and it takes manpower to sort and discard such donations. Members of the Social Action Committee will take your donations and bring them to the Media Food Bank.
Our partnership with the Media Food Bank is longstanding and they need our assistance. Please stand for them with the Social Action Committee.
