Shabbat Mincha followed by Selichot Service with Rabbi Linda and Rabbi Margot Stein

Saturday, September 21, 2019 21 Elul 5779

7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

After a brief Shabbat mincha service and Havdalah, our Selichot service will begin with contemplative music as we change our Torah vestments into their white covers for the holidays. Rabbi Linda and our High Holy Days cantor, Rabbi Margot Stein (* bio below), will offer chanting with some new melodies for the season, and Rabbi Linda will offer teaching and discussion about how to handle regret, as we transition to this focused month of Teshuvah (return/repentance.)

* Rabbi Margot Stein (RRC ’97) is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose liturgical compositions are sung throughout North America and Israel.  As part of the a cappella trio MIRAJ and the rabbinical troupe Shabbat Unplugged, Margot has been part of the movement to  transform Jewish worship for a new generation.  She has taught and mentored RRC students in the art of liturgical leadership, trained special needs B’nai Mitzvah students and supported their parents, tutors and rabbis to create memorable and meaningful life cycle events. As Jewish Learning Venture’s honoree next spring, Margot will highlight Whole Community Inclusion and special needs programming throughout our Jewish community.
