Classes for Alef-Zayin - MLK-Day Themed Learning + MLK Project
Sunday, January 18, 2026 • 29 Tevet 5786
9:30 AM - 12:00 PMBeth Israel's Hebrew School is recognizing and honoring MLK Day on Sunday, 1/18. In addition to classroom and school-wide discussions on the Jewish values of tzedek (justice) and gemilut chasidim (acts of loving kindness), the second half of Hebrew School will be devoted to service projects. The students will be learning about 2 important organizations- A Better Start for Babies and CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia)- and will be creating fleece no-sew blankets for both organizations. Students will also help the BookSmiles drive by sorting and organizing donated books. Lastly, students will have the opportunity to give back to BI's Hebrew School directly by helping sort and organize the Hebrew School closet. In addition to our in-person activities, families and parents will have an opportunity to donate requested art supplies to CHOP.
